Tooth eruption is a biological process influenced by local and systemic factors. These factors impact the development and eruption timing of primary and permanent teeth, potentially leading to early or delayed eruption. While local factors generally affect the eruption of a single primary or permanent tooth, systemic factors can influence primary dentition, permanent dentition, or all eruption periods, causing eruption problems in both dentitions. Consequently, various clinical and radiographic findings may arise. Dentists can diagnose and assess these influencing factors through clinical and radiographic evaluations, enabling them to identify existing conditions or diseases. This review aims to compile the local and systemic factors affecting the eruption of primary and permanent teeth.
